Welcome to edit write teach, a website designed for writers of books and materials for organizations. Services are designed to help you reach your target audience. I value the importance of maintaining the author’s tone and voice as we collaborate to achieve your goals and give you the competitive edge by elevating your writing from good to great.
An editor, author, and instructor with degrees and backgrounds in fine arts and nursing – an interesting combination that thrives on detail, creativity, and personal interaction – I’ve built an eclectic group of clients over the past twenty years. My book clients include authors of adult, children, and young adult fiction and non-fiction. My writing credits include blog posts, web articles, book reviews, company manuals, newsletters, and handbooks for a diverse mix of professions such as wedding planners, physicians, dentists, authors, small businesses (including non-profits), publishers, and marketing companies.
Using my penchant for detail and accuracy and my love of imaginative word use, I particularly enjoy working with teams and authors to realize their dreams. An avid book lover and writer, I write and edit for a publishing company that specializes in educational books and other materials for children from K-3 to G-12. This includes writing quizzes to test reading comprehension, promotional materials, and editing webpages.
My creative writing classes come under the umbrella of Barefoot Writing Academy, which I founded six years ago. A Pushcart Prize nominee in 2008, I’m the published author of articles, short stories, novels, and personal essays. Editorial credits include four anthologies, three published novels, and workshop presentations. A founding board member of the Emerald Coast Writers in Destin, Florida, I co-founded the Mobile Writers Group in Mobile, Alabama. Writing and editing often centers on isolated pursuits; I believe it is vital for writers to commiserate and build a viable network.
The Chicago Manual of Style is my touchstone for editing manuscripts, and I also work comfortably with AP style, as well as mastering in-house style guides. As you scroll through the diversity of editing and writing services I offer, I understand that they can be a little daunting for beginners, so please feel free to contact me with your questions and ideas, using the form below.
Now that you know a little about me, I look forward to hearing about your work and goals to move your projects from draft to publication! Mahala Church[contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]
